I feel like the word 'calories' is at the center of my thought process almost daily. This pretty much sums up how every woman in America feels about calories:


But let's be honest, calories in < calories out is the ONLY way to lose weight. There's no magic supplement, no magic workout routine that you can do in 10 minutes a day. You have to burn more than you eat. End of story.

Good Fat vs. Yummy [Bad] Fat

In this superficial quest for a smaller waistline there are a lot of things that you're going to have to change about your day to day life. It sucks at first, but you'll eventually get used to it, we have an inane ability to adjust. I just came across this infographic on Visual.ly that compares good vs. bad fat:

Unfortunately all of the bad fats are DELICIOUS; but after your pallet adjusts to eating good fats they become your NEW delicious indulgences. 

*Example* I started buying Greek yogurt instead of regular a couple of years ago. It's super healthy and has a ton of protein which makes it perfect for breakfast. Nothing like starting off the day on the right foot eh?! My point is I don't feel like I'm sacrificing when I pull out a greek yogurt from the fridge. That's just the yogurt I eat. End of story. Eventually I know I'll become like that with everything (like spaghetti squash, bleck!) but just remember right now it sucks for all of us. It's not just you!

Now I just have to come up with a good mantra to repeat to myself when I really want onion rings!

I'm a Slacker.... And Salad Beware!

Ok, so remember I said I had started this in hopes of it keeping me on track?! Well, apparently I'm a goal-setting slacker! BUT, I'm back with a vengance and I'm ready to get this done right! I'm working on getting a plan and setting up some social media tonight so you'll be seeing more of me, I promise!

Meanwhile, has anyone seen this story about the bagged salad that they think has caused a parasitic infection? It's basically just a stomach virus, but it sounds like "salads are evil" ammunition to me! I actually really love a GOOD salad, but that takes a shit ton of chopping and preparation that I find a million excuses not to do!

How are your goals coming? I'm up a few pounds after my birthday (holla!) but I'm hitting the gym hard, so it's getting outta here ASAP

I'll be back tomorrow with an awesome recipe for black beans and rice!
